Yoga Around the World

Here at Solaris we believe in Yoga. As we discussed last week, there are many benefits to practicing Yoga. Yoga focuses on individual issues and concerns, which might be unable to be addressed in group or therapy settings. Increasingly, health care and medical care professionals accept, practice, and prescribe yoga therapy due to the significant and growing body of clinical research that documents yoga’s proven health benefits for a wide range of health conditions including anxiety and depression, hypertension, physical conditions such as back pain, inflammation of all kinds, insomnia, brain health, addictions and other compulsive behaviors, and more.

We are sharing this beautiful article entitled ‘Contemplating Yoga Around the World’ where photographer Andy Richter, set out on a mission to deeply explore yoga, including visiting with many masters around the world. This article shares some beautiful images that capture what yoga means to different cultures in our world. Visit the article from the New York Times by clicking here.

Visit Solaris Stable and Yoga today to start your own Yoga journey of healing! Whether it is one of our Buti classes or Yoga on Horseback, let us help you find your inner strength through Yoga!

9 Ways Yoga May Improve Your Life

As you know, we think that yoga is great and can be useful for all individuals in life!  Today we are sharing a bit from article on Health Wire that breaks down nine possible ways that yoga can improve your life.

“Although yoga — as well as the pants it has inspired — has become hugely popular in recent decades, it’s still not widely acknowledged in a lot of mainstream health and fitness sources.’

‘Many people are still turned off by the “new-age” aspects of the activity.’

‘Even more find the poses and stretches intimidating, and few men are willing to give it a try.’

‘What people who don’t practice yoga might not realize is that there is much more to it than body contortions and chanting. Yoga is not just reserved for tofu-eating hippies and acrobats…’

‘That’s why today I’d like to outline for our readers all the major benefits anyone can get from practicing yoga — including beginners and veteran yogis — as well as how you can easily incorporate them into your life. (HealthWire.com)”  What are some of those benefits you may ask?

According to this author’s opinion they are:

  • Stress relief
  • Endurance
  • Patience
  • Detoxing
  • Strength
  • Balance
  • Concentration
  • Flexibility
  • Confidence

Don’t let any of these things intimidate you! Come out to Solaris Stable & Yoga to give it a try! You might be surprised at how naturally it comes to you or how good you feel afterwards!

Horses of Solaris: Meet Toby

Today we are excited to continue our 'Horses of Solaris' series where each week we introduce one of our incredible horses here at Solaris Stable and Yoga. We are so fortunate to have such a special group of equines and we want you to get to know them too! Up next is one of our adventurous spirits, Toby!

Toby is a Mustang who loves to explore out on trail! Toby is in his teens and assists with Wine Country Rides. Toby and Trace came from the same place and came to Solaris at the same time, and Toby makes sure everybody knows that Trace is HIS best friend and no one else's. We just love having him around and know you will love him too!
